Running for Assemblymember District 24, CA Assembly District 24, in California
YIMBY Action endorses Assemblymember Alex Lee because he has been one of the most reliable pro-housing votes in Sacramento. Since he was elected in 2020, he has supported every major pro-housing bill. He has also led on new ideas: he championed social housing as a way to build permanently affordable, mixed-income homes, and this year he authored AB 2252, the single-stair reform bill.
Alex Lee is the California State Assemblymember for District 24, which includes Fremont, Newark, Sunol, Milpitas, and San Jose, and is running for re-election in 2026. First elected in 2020, he chairs the Assembly Committee on Human Services and the Legislative Progressive Caucus. Before taking office he worked on statewide policy for State Senator Henry Stern and Assemblymember Evan Low. A lifelong Bay Area resident, he graduated from Milpitas High School and UC Davis, where he served as Student Body President.
