Running for Councilmember District 3, Los Angeles Council District 3, in Los Angeles, CA
Barri Worth Girvan has demonstrated the clearest understanding among the candidates in this race of the urgent need to build more housing throughout Los Angeles. She supports SB 79, would have joined the pro-housing bloc of the City Council in the vote on its implementation, and has committed to helping build more housing rather than allowing community opposition to delay or block needed homes. Her experience in government and willingness to engage constituents and developers early in the process give her a valuable perspective, while her commitment to ultimately moving projects forward, even in the face of opposition, makes her the strongest choice in District 3.
Barri Worth Girvan is a candidate for Los Angeles City Council District 3 in the November 3, 2026 general election. Born and raised in the West Valley, she has worked on behalf of San Fernando Valley residents for nearly two decades, in staff positions in the California State Senate, the office of a former Mayor of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. Her campaign lists her most recent role as Director of Community Affairs for Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath. She also directed government affairs and community engagement for The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. She graduated from UC San Diego, holds a master's degree from USC, and lives in Woodland Hills.
