Running for Councilmember, Culver City At Large, in Culver City, CA
As Culver City's Mayor, Freddy Puza has been a consistent vote for the pro-housing majority's biggest wins over the past eighteen months, including the General Plan 2045 and Zoning Code update that expanded the city's multifamily-zoned land and the Objective Design Standards that streamline approvals for residential projects. Puza clearly understands that getting units built is the core of the job, and he would continue to be a reliable champion for the kind of pro-housing policy YIMBY LA supports.
Freddy Puza is the Mayor of Culver City and is running for re-election to the City Council in the November 3, 2026 general election. First elected to the council in 2022, he was the first openly LGBTQ+ person elected to it, and the council unanimously chose him as mayor for 2026, the city's first openly LGBTQ+ mayor. He previously served on Culver City's Committee on Homelessness and General Plan Advisory Committee and co-created Culver City Pride. He has worked in higher education for more than two decades and is Director of Community Relations. He has lived in Culver City since 2011.
