SF YIMBY is endorsing Gary McCoy in the top slot due to his history of commitment to YIMBYism and his strong potential as a member of the board of supervisors. McCoy has been a public ally in our fight for more housing for a decade, and has a great focus in his policy goals towards things that make housing of all kinds easier to build. His vision along with his political savvy will help San Francisco build more of the housing we desperately need.
About Gary McCoy
Gary McCoy is a candidate for San Francisco Board of Supervisors, District 8, in the November 3, 2026 election. He ran the campaign to Save our Healthcare alongside Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, opposing cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. He has led San Francisco's Alice B. Toklas LGBTQ Democratic Club and Harvey Milk Democratic Club. After experiencing homelessness during a long struggle with addiction, he got sober and went on to work in City Hall and in Congress.
