Running for U.S. Representative District 2, US House of Representatives California District 2, in California
Marin YIMBY is proud to endorse Jared Huffman for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in California’s 2nd Congressional District. We were particularly encouraged by his support for the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, a bipartisan federal housing package that expands affordable-housing financing and support for local housing strategies. Huffman has also demonstrated a commitment to addressing Marin’s housing needs directly. He helped secure the federal funding and federal property transfer that supported affordable housing in West Marin, including housing for people displaced from the Point Reyes National Seashore ranches. Most recently, he secured $2 million for the Point Reyes Workforce Housing project and $250,000 for the Oak Hill Workforce Housing Project in Marin County. These efforts demonstrate a willingness to bring federal resources to bear on Marin’s housing shortage, particularly for the workers and families who struggle to afford to live here.
Jared Huffman, a Democrat, has represented California's 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House since he was sworn in on January 3, 2013. The district spans the North Coast from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Oregon border. He is Ranking Member of the House Committee on Natural Resources and also serves on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Before Congress he served six years in the California Assembly, where he chaired the Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee; earlier he was a Senior Attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council and served 12 years as a Director of the Marin Municipal Water District.
