Running for Assemblymember District 46, CA State Assembly District 46, in California
YIMBY Action supports Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel because as chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, he helped deliver the most significant housing reform in California in more than 50 years. The 2025 budget package moved through his committee, including AB 130, which exempted most urban infill housing from CEQA review and made major changes to speed up home building statewide. Those reforms are already making it faster and cheaper to build homes in Los Angeles and across the state. Gabriel represents the San Fernando Valley, where families are being priced out, and he has used his budget leadership to make housing production a state priority. We're proud to support his re-election.
Jesse Gabriel is the California State Assemblymember for District 46, representing the San Fernando Valley, and advanced from the June 2026 primary in his bid for re-election. He chairs the Assembly Budget Committee and serves as Co-Chair of the California Legislative Jewish Caucus. Before entering public service, he worked as a constitutional rights attorney, representing clients in state and federal courts including the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a graduate of UC Berkeley and Harvard Law School.
