Running for Assemblymember District 23, Assembly District 23, in California
YIMBY Action supports Assemblymember Marc Berman because he votes for housing at every turn. Berman represents some of the most expensive communities in the state, including Palo Alto and much of the Peninsula. Last year he voted for SB 79, Senator Wiener's landmark bill allowing more homes near transit. That kind of leadership is rare, and it's exactly what we need if the Peninsula is going to become a place where teachers, nurses and young families can afford to live. Berman has stood up for housing when it counted, and we're proud to stand with him.
Marc Berman is the California State Assemblymember for District 23, first elected to the Assembly in 2016, and is running for re-election in November 2026 after advancing from the June 2026 primary. He previously served on the Palo Alto City Council and worked for the Silicon Valley Education Foundation, and earlier was an attorney at Latham & Watkins. Raised in Palo Alto, he holds a B.A. in Political Science from Georgetown University and a J.D. from the USC Gould School of Law.
