About Mark Gonzalez
Mark Gonzalez is a member of the California State Assembly representing District 54, which includes Boyle Heights, Downtown Los Angeles, Koreatown and the cities of Vernon, Montebello and Commerce; he was first elected in November 2024 and advanced from the June 2026 primary in his bid for re-election. He serves as Assembly Majority Whip, and previously chaired the Los Angeles County Democratic Party from 2017 to 2024. He grew up in Section 8 housing, raised by a single mother.
