Mark Humbert

We enthusiastically endorse Councilmember Marc Humbert for re-election. CM Humbert has been a fantastic supporter of housing throughout Berkeley, including his own district. He has led crucial work including the Middle Housing Ordinance (voted up) and the Corridor Zoning Update (soon to be voted on), and managed to build effective alliances to deliver housing, fairly and equitably. We’re excited to see his plans for housing in Claremont come to fruition as well, and his votes and positions reflect a thoughtful, effective approach to governing with a focus on adding homes, addressing the housing crisis, and improving transit performance and street safety. He has also put a lot of effort into selecting good commissioners, something that is often overlooked despite them having extensive responsibilities in Berkeley. Berkeley will be more vibrant with a second Humbert term.

Mark Humbert has represented District 8 on the Berkeley City Council since his election in November 2022; his current term ends in November 2026 and he is running for re-election. A Berkeley resident of more than 20 years and a graduate of Berkeley Law, he has had a long career as a federal court litigator, arbitrator and mediator. Before joining the council he served, consecutively, on Berkeley's Transportation, Public Works, Fair Campaign Practices and Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Commissions, and was a board member and president of the Claremont Elmwood Neighborhood Association.
