About Matt Haney
Matt Haney is the California Assemblymember for District 17, representing the eastern side of San Francisco, and has served since 2022; he is running for re-election in 2026. He chairs the Assembly Committee on Housing and Community Development and the Legislative Renters' Caucus. He previously served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for District 6 and on the San Francisco Board of Education, and has worked as a tenant attorney. He holds a bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley and a master's in education and a J.D. from Stanford University.
