Running for Assemblymember District 18, CA Assembly District 18, in California
East Bay YIMBY and YIMBY Action support Assemblymember Mia Bonta because she has consistently voted for the major housing bills that matter most, and she's been a reliable partner for Oakland, Alameda and Emeryville. She has also taken on some of the barriers that block new homes.
Mia Bonta is the California Assemblymember for District 18, which includes much of Oakland and the cities of Emeryville and Alameda, first elected in a 2021 special election, and is running for re-election in 2026. Before joining the Assembly, she was CEO of Oakland Promise, a cradle-to-college and career initiative, and served on the Alameda Unified School District Board, including as Board President. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Yale University, an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
