About Nancy Shia
Nancy Shia is a candidate for Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in Single Member District 1C07 in the November 3, 2026 general election. A photographer, political artist, neighborhood activist and long-time Adams Morgan resident, Nancy Shia has documented the Adams Morgan neighborhood through photography since the early 1970s. Nancy Shia holds a B.A. from City College of New York, an M.A. in Social Work from Columbia University and a J.D. from Antioch School of Law (1978), later worked for the Federal News Service, and was elected Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner from 1982 to 1984 and again from 2007 to 2010.
