Running for Assemblymember District 61, California Assembly District 61, in California
YIMBY Action endorses Assemblymember Tina McKinnor because she knows that housing affordability is one of the biggest issues facing families in the South Bay and across Los Angeles. McKinnor has been a partner in the fight to make California a place where working families can afford to stay, and we're proud to support her re-election.
Tina McKinnor is the California State Assemblymember for District 61, representing Inglewood, Hawthorne, Gardena, Lawndale, Westchester, Venice, and surrounding Los Angeles County communities, and advanced from the June 2026 primary in her bid for re-election. First elected in June 2022, she chairs the Assembly Public Employment and Retirement Committee and the Select Committee on the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and was elected Chair of the Los Angeles County Legislative Delegation in 2024. She previously served as Civic Engagement Director for the nonprofit LA Voice, as Operational Director for the California Democratic Party, and as chief of staff to several Assemblymembers, and holds a B.A. in accounting from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
