At Live TC, we firmly believe that anyone who works in Traverse City should be able to afford to live in Traverse City. As a result, we’re chatting with our friends and neighbors to tell their stories, and share with you how our community is impacted by a lack of abundant and affordable housing.
We talked with Caroline Kennedy, Live TC leadership member, Good Works Lab member, and Traverse City resident, about why she believes in abundant housing in TC.
Hometown: Gwinn, MI in the great U.P!
School: Gwinn High School; Northwestern Michigan College for Business Management; Michigan State University for Communications; Western Michigan University Masters in Public Administration
Moved to Traverse City in: 1980-1982, back in 2014
Work history: political consulting firm administrative assistant; Michigan State Senate Session Staff; Michigan State Senate Communications Staff; Michigan Municipal League lobbyist; Michigan Municipal League Manager of Field Operations; Village of Elk Rapids Assistant Manager; Good Works Lab Public Policy
Family life and hobbies: Married to Mark Kennedy; we are blessed with two strong, independent daughters and two boys adopted from India (now in their teens). Passionate about public policy that improves our community’s quality of life; TART Trails ambassador; dog-rescuer.
Why Caroline cares about abundant housing in Traverse City:
A lack of homes for nurses and nurse assistants means a lack of quality nursing home beds and care for the elderly–especially the most vulnerable, such as dementia patients. It’s heartbreaking.
