Rob Bonta
On April 23, 2021, Rob Bonta was sworn in as the 34th Attorney General of California, becoming the first Filipino and second Asian-American to hold the position. His passion for justice, inspired by his parents' work in social justice movements, led him to become a lawyer to address historic wrongs. Bonta graduated with honors from Yale University and Yale Law School. He has since led statewide efforts for racial, economic, and environmental justice, advocating for immigrant families, renters, and workers.
As Deputy City Attorney in San Francisco, he fought against exploitation and racial profiling. Later, as an Alameda County Council Member and Assemblymember, Bonta enacted reforms to promote fairness and accountability. Now, as the People’s Attorney, he prioritizes holding those who abuse power accountable. He is married to Assemblymember Mia Bonta, with whom he has three children, Reina, Iliana, and Andres, and their dog, Legolas.
