Passing transformative change like SB 5184, one of the strongest parking reform laws in the nation, isn’t easy, but we got it done. We built a broad coalition of advocates that prioritized people over cars.

In one of the most car-dependent cities in the U.S., Dallas passed game-changing parking reform after years of advocacy. The reforms will lead to more affordable housing, more livable neighborhoods, and a better Dallas for generations to come.

SB 79 required all hands on deck to get it across the finish line. Had it lost a single vote during any step, it wouldn’t have passed. While the bill is now state law, the work’s not done.
