Statement RE: Opposing Anti-Immigrant Texas Senate Bill 147

YIMBY Action stands in solidarity with our immigrant community members and denounces the racist and xenophobic legislation that is being proposed in Texas.

Texas Senate Bill 147 is a piece of legislation that was recently introduced in Texas that would ban citizens from China, North Korea, Iran, and Russia from buying property in the state.

If enacted, this bill would significantly impact the ability of immigrant communities to purchase homes in Texas, particularly Chinese citizens whose immigrant population in Texas is the largest of the four countries being targeted.

Anti-racism is at the center of our fight for abundant, affordable housing for ALL.

We will continue to stand up against policies that aim to continue the institutionalized inequity that immigrants and people of color face in the U.S. today.
